So let's catch up with our past few months. For Sam's birthday, we went on an epic camping adventure in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. We stayed in all the possible camping places; a cabin rental, a tent, and the back of the truck. We experienced rain, sun and even snow (just above us on the mountains surrounding our last night's camping spot at Hidden Lake.)

Sam enjoyed his chocolate cupcakes.

We did some hiking, too. Even Blaise pulled his weight 1000 feet up a small mountain, where the view of Skilak Lake and the Kenai River was amazing!

The cabin came with a boat and life jackets, as well as a fine population of bears. We saw 4 black bears while we were there (across the lake), and one more while we were driving to our hike.

Below are also pictures from Halloween and Thanksgiving, but I'm still learning to format the page in a pleasing way, so I'm going to just leave it at that before this post sucks any more valuable time away from my life.

Well, it must be time for a little blog action.
Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

We've been enjoying the winter. Sam likes skiing, and Blaise made it almost 25 feet on his new skis before he climbed into the pulk.

Blaise is eating a turkey leg in this pic. Just after Thanksgiving.

Here's a cute video of Blaise from Yesterday:

Enjoy!

The Good Life

We've been having some busy weeks here in Homer. The weather finally took a turn toward spring, with warmish breezes and rain mixed in our snow. This means the season known as Breakup has commenced. We are all shod in mud boots, parking at the bottom of our driveway and slogging up to the house through the mud. Groceries go up in a wheelbarrow, or on our backs. In the middle of this unglamorous situation, Sophie attended the Junior/Senior prom accompanied by her posse:

Whitney, Leah, Britni, Courtney, and Sophie.
The theme was Casino Royale, a play on 2007, and everyone had a great time.

All these lovely ladies are on the Junior Varsity softball team. Hailey and Dale also made the team (Dale is the coach).

In other news, Hailey will be attending a School Band Competition in Orlando from April 25-29th. Anyone who will be in the area will get an opportunity to see Hailey pounding away in the percussion section. You can email me for more info.

This fall our road name was changed to honor our dog. Unfortunately, all this attention has gone to his head, and now he sits around all day waiting for the Nobel Prize committee to arrive with a check (or is it Ed McMahan?) No matter. He will just have to get over himself soon.

Blaise andSam are both very wheel-identified kids these days. The video is of Sam on his hot wheels bike.
That's all for now. Since I expect my entries to be quite sporadic, I would suggest that you subscribe to this blog at the end of this page so you get an email when I do get around to updating.
Happy Spring!

I am learning and I am growing.

Well, I can guarantee that I will NEVER make three posts in one day ever again. You are just the luckiest little readers ever to have so much naches to schep in so short a time (that's for the Jewish side of the family). Since only three people have my address so far, I am sure I am practically talking to myself, i.e. the Jewish side of the family. Tomorrow, when I send out the address, will be a different story.
I have been learning a lot about this whole blog thing, so now I'm ready to post some pictures.
For example, Sam now has a bike

and Blaise likes to smile for the camera.

Blaise also sometimes uses the potty (o.k., just twice so far, but a mom can hope)(and NO, there is no picture to share; I'm not totally crazy), and really talks quite a bit using sign language and a few words (cereal, mommy, daddy, bird, dog, cheese, cookie) which probably only Dale and I can differentiate from all the other noises he makes.
Sam is very active and we can hardly wait for some snow to melt so we can kick him outside to play (can you say "cabin fever"?)
Here's one more video to see, too, in case you haven't spent enough time downloading major megabyte kid action.

And in conclusion (this is for Bonita) we really need to do something about the international political situation, as well as national, and we need to be really witty when we do that something.
See? This is a Blog for everyone!

checking in, continued

Well, that first post was such a breeze. Was it good for you, too? Let's hope so. To fill you in a little, we had a lovely dinner at A and V's house, and then hit the slopes in snowpants and gloves. No sleds required, with an icy base under powdery snow. Sam sledded, and Blaise watched contentedly from the window with V. Lovely sunset and Alpenglow as well. Here are some more videos:

I'll post pictures next time, since I know not everyone has time or bandwidth or whatever it is that allows one to view big files.

check in on us here

Hi, everybody. This blog format seems like an excellent way for interested people (i.e. grandparents and maybe other family members) to see pictures of the kids and what they're up to. I'm going to attempt to post videos, too. And if this doesn't work out, it can disappear into the e-world void.
